BANTAM AA HURRICANES NOTCH WEEKEND WIN

Last weekend the Lethbridge Bantam AA Hurricanes played a single match at home eventually earning a convincing 6-2 victory over the struggling Brooks Stitch FX Outlaws, who are winless in their last nine.
Hurricanes defenseman Jason Wegner started the scoring midway through the opening period with assists going to Robert Milojovic and Andrew Thompson. Shortly after, Bryce Deboer scored a beauty to give his club a two goal lead at the first intermission with assists credited to Kenny Thomas and Logan Ramsdell.
Thomas continued to roll with a highlight-reel-worthy goal early in the second, unassisted. The visitors responded with back to back markers to pull within one.   Thomas replied again for the Hurricanes with his second of the game  with 28 seconds left in the period, with assist going to Ramsdell.
In the final frame, Brady Parenteau restored the Hurricanes three goal cushion with assist going to Devin Ruff, and Ramsdell sealed the deal with an empty net tally assisted by Joey Slawson.
Hurricane goaltender Logan Rowley faced 29 shots to tke the 6-2 victory between the pipes.
Next up this Friday, the Hurricanes are off to Duchess to again face Brooks, then back at home on Sunday to take on the Airdrie Lightning.

BANTAM AA HURRICANES CONTINUE TO ROLL

The Lethbridge Bantam AA Hurricanes improved their record to 9-3-3 on the weekend with a win at home against the Brooks Stitch FX Outlaws 4-3.
Hurricane forward Devin Ruff started the scoring off early in the first with an even strength goal assisted by Landon Gross and Clay Vogt. Brooks quickly replied with 2 markers to pull ahead by one, but Gross found the twine to tie things up heading into the second, with assists going to Braden Ruff and Brady Parenteau.
Brooks recaptured the lead with a goal late in the second period to put the visitors up by one.
In the final frame, the Hurricanes capitalized on a strong forecheck, as Gross scored his 16th of the season with 4 minutes left, assisted by Devin Ruff and Logan Boulet to tie the game. Then with the clock winding down, Devin Ruff notched his 3rd point of the game from Gross and Braden Ruff with 40 seconds left to give the Hurricanes the 4-3 victory.
Goaltender Arik Weersink faced 20 shots for the win in net.
Next, the Hurricanes are off to Swift Current to compete in the Bantam AA-Tier 1 Raider Tournament.

BANTAM AA HURRICANES SOLID ON WEEKEND

The Lethbridge Bantam AA Hurricanes continued to improve their record, winning back to back home games last weekend.
First up on Remembrance Day, the Hurricanes hosted the Taber Golden Suns in a South Division tilt.
Both teams failed to find the twine in the first frame, but it was Landon Gross who capitalized on a Taber miscue to put the host club on the board midway through the second period. Two minutes later, Logan Ramsdell scored a follow up marker on a pass from Kenny Thomas and Kyler Newman to increase the lead to two. Taber closed out the period with what proved to be the lone goal for the visiting Suns.
Period three was strong for the Hurricanes, as their offensive pressure paid off with goals by Gross, Clay Vogt and Ramsdell netting two more to earn the hattrick. Assists were credited to Vogt, Thomas with two, Jason Wegner and Devin Ruff.
Arik Weersink stopped 23 shots to earn the win between the pipes.
Then on Saturday, the Hurricanes hosted the North Division leading Okotoks Oilers with the visitors jumping to the lead first at the midway point of the opening period. Then in the final minute, Devin Ruff tied the game at one with a pass from Newman on a ‘Canes powerplay.
In the second period, the Hurricanes found themselves in penalty trouble having to kill off two three on five’s in a row. However, discipline and hard work paid off as Vogt chipped in a shorthanded marker. Then Wegner increased the Hurricane lead by two with the assist going to Riel Bruised Head.
In the third, Ramsdell continued his three game goal streak to round out Hurricane scoring and give the club the 4-1 victory.
‘Canes goaltender Logan Rowley stopped 35 shots for the win.
Next up, Lethbridge is at home on Friday to the Brooks Outlaws.

BANTAM AA HURRICANES UNBEATEN STREAK ENDS

The Lethbridge Bantam AA Hurricanes five game unbeaten streak came to an end last weekend as they took to the road in a pair of games against north division rivals.
The Hurricanes, sitting at a comfortable second spot behind league leading Cranbrook in the South, first squared off against the host Airdrie Lightning on Saturday. Airdrie scored the opening goal to give the hosts a 1-0 lead until Landon Gross replied for the Hurricanes with an even strength tally, assisted by Riel Bruised Head. A barrage of penalties quickly followed for both teams and as the buzzer sounded to end the first period, the Hurricanes found themselves down by a 2-1 margin.
The middle frame favoured the visitors as they scored three unanswered goals. First by Brady Parenteau assisted by Ken Thomas, then Bruised Head with Gross and Clay Vogt assisting, and finally Gross scoring a shorthanded marker to lift the Hurricanes to a 4-2 lead at the flood.
The final period was a see-saw battle with both teams trading goals but it was Gross notching his third and fourth of the game to give the Hurricanes the 6-5 victory. Hurricane netminder Logan Rowley faced 39 shots to take the win.
The club continued up the road to Red Deer on Sunday eventually falling short in a 5-4 loss to the host Steel Kings and bringing to an end their five game unbeaten streak.
Hurricane scoring didn’t pick up until midway through the second with goals by Bruised Head, Robert Milojevic and Logan Ramsdell. Gross, Thomas, Milojevic and Kyler Newman were credited with the assists.
The third period saw Gross score his 12th goal in eight games, but it wasn’t enough as the host club netted three more to hand the Hurricanes only their third loss of the season. Hurricane goaltender Arik Weersink stopped 30 shots between the pipes.

Next, the Hurricanes play a pair of home games. First on Remembrance Day against the Golden Suns of Taber, then on Saturday against the north division leading Okotoks Oilers.

BANTAM AA HURRICANES WIN TWO ON WEEKEND

For the third straight game, the Bantam AA Hurricanes put up the goals, and for the third straight game, they got the win.
First on Friday, the Hurricanes played host to the Red Deer Steel Kings, eventually earning the 6-1 victory. Brady Parenteau opened the scoring up in the first minute of play with Landon Gross getting credited with the assist. An even strength tally by Jason Wegner, unassisted, followed by a power play marker by Andrew Thomson assisted by Kyler Newman and Chase Bell increased the Hurricanes lead by two in the second period. The Hurricanes continued their offensive pressure in the third with goals coming from the sticks of Gross and Devin Ruff with a two goal effort. Assists went to Riel Bruised Head, Logan Ramsdell and Ken Thomas. Hurricane goaltender Arik Weersink turned aside 26 shots to take the win in net.
On Saturday, the Hurricane goal scorers were at it again as they helped give goaltender Logan Rowley his second shutout on the season, blanking the Foothills Bisons 6-0.
After killing off several penalties including a 3 on 5, Robert Milojevic finally opened the scoring up in the first, assisted by Bruised Head. Then three minutes later, Clay Vogt scored a beauty unassisted to give the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead at the flood.
The hosts continue to score in the third thanks to Bruised Head adding two more and Vogt adding his second of the game. Assists were credited to Ramsdell, Milojevic, Thomson, Parenteau, Thomas and Bryce Deboer.
Vogt completed the hattrick with an early goal in the third, assisted by Levi Danylyshen to seal the win for the Hurricanes.
Rowley faced 38 shots in the shutout win and increased the Hurricanes record to 5-2-3 on the year.
Next up, the Hurricanes are on the road to face the Airdrie Lightning on Saturday.

BANTAM AA HURRICANES UNDEFEATED IN WEEKEND PLAY

Last weekend, the Lethbridge Bantam AA Hurricanes went undefeated to improve their record to 3-2-3 on the season.
First on Saturday, the Hurricanes travelled to Cochrane to take on the Bow Valley Timberwolves, who are sitting at a comfortable second place in the SCAHL north division.
With the help of Hurricane netminder Logan Rowley, the game remained scoreless at the first intermission. Bow Valley opened the scoring up early in the second to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. A hard forecheck and great passing gave way to a well earned Hurricane goal at the 17 minute mark to tie the game. Scoring was Riel Bruised Head with assists going to Logan Ramsdell and Kenny Thomas.
A scoreless final frame, the game remained tied at one, with the two teams settling on a point apiece. Rowley faced 28 shots for the tie.
A home tilt on Sunday saw the Hurricanes come away with a 6-3 victory over the visiting Red Deer Ramada.
The visitors proved a formiddable oponent as they jumped to a quick 2-0 lead early in the first, until Landon Gross scored to pull the Hurricanes within one at the flood. Assists going to Bruised Head and Clay Vogt.
A penalty-filled second period, emotions were running high as the two teams battled for control. Gross netted his second of the game, unassisted, early in the period to tie the game at two. Red Deer replied midway through to regain the one goal lead, until Hurricane centreman Chase Bell tied the game at 3 with a pass from Ramsdell.
The Hurricanes capitalized on some miscues in the third period by the visitors, scoring three unanswered tallies to give the Hurricanes a convincing 6-3 win. Goal scorers in the third were Bell, Ramsdell and Devin Ruff, with assists going to Vogt, Gross, Bryce Deboer and Robert Milojovic with two. Goaltender Arik Weersink made 37 saves for the win.

The Hurricanes next game is Friday October 29, when they play host to the Red Deer Steel Kings.

BANTAM AA HURRICANES SUNDAY ROADTRIP

On Sunday, the Lethbridge Bantam AA Hurricanes were on the road again to take on the Medicine Hat Venom.
The hosts jumped to an early 1-0 lead which proved to be the only tally by either team in the opening frame, despite a strong effort by the Hurricanes.
Another early goal to start the second increased the Venom lead to 2, until Andrew Thompson scored to put the Hurricanes on the board with assists going to Bryce Deboer and Chase Bell.
A goal mouth scramble led to Medicine Hat’s third goal to round off scoring for the second period.
With both teams trading penalties in the third, neither could capitalize, with the end result resting at a 3-1 loss for the Hurricanes, despite several close chances on a 6 on 5 in the final minutes of the game.
Logan Rowley was between the pipes for the Hurricanes, facing 35 shots.

The Hurricanes hop on the bus again this Saturday to face off against Bow Valley.

BANTAM AA HURRICANES FRIDAY REPORT

On Friday, the Lethbridge Bantam AA Hurricanes were on the road to face off against the Foothills Bisons. The Hurricanes came out flying as they jumped to an early lead with a goal from Clay Vogt assisted by Landon Gross and Brady Parenteau. That wasn’t good enough for Gross as he quickly netted two more, one a nifty passing play from Vogt and Kyler Newman, the second unassisted, to give the Hurricanes a 3-0 lead going into the second. A high paced second frame, the two teams battled hard, but it was Hurricane forward Riel Bruised Head who capitalized with the help of Robert Milojovic giving the Hurricanes a healthy 4-0 margin at the second intermission. A blistering point shot by Ken Thomas from Gross and Joey Slawson increased the lead to 5. Bison pressure relented in the final half of the period, scoring three to pull Foothills within two goals, but Chase Bell sealed the deal for the Hurricanes 6-3 win, assisted by Newman. Goaltender Arik Weersink was strong in net, stopping 29 shots.

Next up, the Hurricanes travel to Medicine Hat on Sunday to take on the host Venom.
