Hounds Win South!
The Midget AA Hounds won 4-3 to win the three game series against the Foothills Bisons. They have are the South Conference Champions of the South Central Alberta Hockey League (“SCAHL”).
The Hounds are playing Wheatland Chiefs on Sunday to start a 5 game series for the League Championship. Game one and two is Sunday and Wednesday in Strathmore with game three and four (if required) in Lethbridge on Friday and Saturday night at Henderson.

Val Matteotti Golden Hawks
The Val Matteotti Golden Hawks finished their 2011-2012 hockey season after being swept by the Airdrie Extreme in two games. In the first game the Hawks lost 4-1 in Airdrie with Ryan Stronski scoring the lone goal. In the second game of the best of three Lethbridge was defeated 4-2 by Airdrie, Carson Beers and Devin Ruff each had a goal in the defeat. The games were close with the Hawks outshooting Airdrie in both games.

AAA Minor Midget Hurricanes
The AAA Minor Midget Hurricanes played two game this weekend. They lost Saturday to the Red Deer IROC Chiefs 3-2 in a very entertaining game at Henderson Ice Arena. Scoring for the Hurricanes were Jared Broderson and Landon Gross. Brooklyn Paisley took the loss in goal. Lethbridge was out shot 32-21.
Monday February 20th the Canes won 5-4 over the A C Avalanche from Airdrie in another very good game. Scoring for Lethbridge were Devon Jerome, Austin Huculak, Calvin Swanson, Joel Lewis and Matthew Nadeau. Logan Rowley got the win in net. Lethbridge was out shot 32-26.
Next action will be Saturday February 25th at 12:45 PM location Max Bell 2 Calgary vs CNHA Blazers and then Sunday February 26th at Henderson against CNHA Canucks.
Val Matteotti Golden Hawks
The Val Matteotti Golden Hawks finished their regular season on a strong note winning two of their final three games and moving into third place in the Ram South Division of AMBHL. Last Wednesday the Hawks hosted Medicine Hat and came out on the short end losing 6-3. Scoring for the Hawks were Ryan Stronski, Austyn Moser, and Andrew Thompson. On Saturday the Hawks played the Okotoks Oilers and defeated them 4-2. Andrew Thompson led the way with a pair of goals, Laramie Kostelansky and Austyn Moser added singles. Arik Weersink secured the win in net with 18 saves. In the final game of the season on Sunday the Hawks beat the Calgary Bisons 3-1. Austyn Moser scored twice and Devin Ruff had a goal in the win. In net was Robert Brewin making 35 saves. The Hawks play Airdrie in the first round of the playoffs. The first game of the best of three is in Airdrie on Thursday night at 7:30pm. On Saturday the Hawks will be at home, taking on Airdrie at 7:30pm at the Henderson Ice Arena. Game three if necessary is in Airdrie on Sunday.
Minor AAA Midget Hurricanes
The Minor AAA Midget Hurricanes played the Calgary CRAA Blue at Henderson Ice Arena Saturday February 11th and lost 4-2. Landon Gross scored both goals for the Hurricanes who out shot Calgary 24-20.
Next action will be Saturday February 18th at Henderson against Red Deer IROC Chiefs and on Monday February 23rd against the A C Avalance also at Henderson 2:30 PM game time.
Val Matteotti Golden Hawks weekend update- Feb-4th and 5th
The Val Matteotti Golden Hawks travelled north on the weekend. Saturday the Hawks played Fort Saskatchewan and skated away with a 2-1 win. Ryan Stronski scored the go ahead goal and Robert Brewin gathered the win in net. On Sunday the Hawks travelled to Lloydminster to take on the Heat and suffered a 6-3 loss. Scoring for Lethbridge were Chase Bell, Laramie Kostelansky and Andrew Thompson. This is the final week of the regular season for the Hawks and they will be busy. On Wednesday the Hawks play Medicine Hat at Henderson Ice Arena at 7:30pm. On the weekend the Lethbridge has a pair of home games as well, hosting Okotoks on Saturday at 5pm and the Calgary Bisons on Sunday at 2:30pm. Both games are at the Henderson Ice Arena. The Hawks have clinched a play off spot and are looking to move up in the Ram South Division, where they currently occupy fourth place.
Golden Hawks
The Lethbridge Val Mattioti Golden Hawks hosted the Calgary Bronks Sat. Jan 28th and were defeated 5-2. Scoring for the Hawks were Chase Williamsen and Austyn Moser, both unassisted. In net for the Hawks was Robert Brewin.
Sunday the Hawks traveled to Airdrie only to be defeated by the Xtremes 7-4. The Xtremes did their damage in the 2nd period as the Hawks did score 2 in the 1st and the 3rd. Goals went to Braeden Ruff, Chase Bell and Austyn Moser(2). Assists were credited to Bell (3), Moser, Carson Beers and Taner Miller. Arik Weersink tended net.
Tuesday, Jan 31st the Hawks traveled to Calgary to take on the Calgary Royals. The Hawks struck first when Michael Grant scored in the 1st period with assists coming from Bryce DeBoer and Jason Wegner. The Royals answered back with 1 in the 2nd and 1 in the 3rd, winning the late night game 2-1. In net for the Hawks was Robert Brewin The Hawks go on a road trip this weekend to Fort Saskatchewan and Lloydminster. Next home action will be Wed., Feb 8th vs Medicine Hat at 7:30.
Minor Midget AAA Hurricanes
The Minor Midget AAA Hurricanes lost 4-0 to the NWCAA Bruins Friday January 27th at Henderson Ice Arena. The Hurricanes out shot Calgary 36-28 with Brooklyn Paisley in goal for Lethbridge.
Next action will be this weekend in the LAA Midget Tournament.
