Golden Hawks
The Lethbridge Bantam Val Matteoti Golden Hawks traveled to Red Deer Nov. 26 and 27 to meet the Red Deer teams. Sat., Nov. 26th they played Red Deer Black. Robert Brewin was in net for the Hawks. The 1st two periods Red Deer held the Hawks scoreless down 1-0 at the end of the 1st period and 2-0 end of the second period. However in the 3rd period the Hawks turned the tables on Red Deer Black and held them scoreless while the Hawks grabbed 3 goals to win the game 3-2. Scoring the 1st two goals for the Hawks was Chase Bell assisted by Carson Beers and Austyn Moser on his 1st goal and Andrew Thompson on his second. Thompson also assisted Jason Wegner on the 3rd and final goal for the Hawks.
Sunday the Hawks played Red Deer White and won 5-0. The 1st period was scoreless for both teams. Laramie Kostelansky got the Hawks first goal at 19:09 of period 2 assisted by Jason Wegner. Ryan Tessemaker added another goal, assisted by Ryan Stronski and Kostelansky. The 3rd goal in period 2 was scored by Devin Ruff, assisted by Stronski and Carson Beers. Perid 3 saw the Hawks add 2 more goals. Goal 4 scored by Kostelansky was assisted by Stronski and Tessemaker and the final goal of the afternoon was credited to Austyn Moser with assists going to Taner Miller and Beers. Arik Weersink claimed the shutout.
Next action for the Lethbridge Val Matteoti Golden Hawks is their own tournament in Lethbridge. Come support them at Henderson, Thurs., Dec. 1st at 7:45pm vs. Fort Saskatchewan, Fri., 4:45 vs. Weyburn, and Sat., 12:30 vs. Vernon and 8:45pm vs Winnipeg.
AAA Minor Midget Hurricanes
The AAA Minor Midget Hurricanes travelled to Calgary the week end of November 26th and 27th. They defeated the Calgary Bruins 4-2 Saturday at the new Winsport arenas. Scoring for Lethbridge were Calvin Swanson, Devon Jerome, Landon Gross and Brady Parenteau. Brook Paisley was in goal for the win.
Sunday November 27th the Hurricanes lost 9-2 to the calgary Rangers at Acadia ice Arena. Scoring for Lethbridge was Landon Gross and Devon Jerome. Logan Rowley and Brook Paisely were both in net.
Next action for the AAA Minor Midgets is Saturday December 3rd at Max Bell in Calgary where they will play the NWCAA Stampeders.
Val Mattoti Bantams
On Nov.19th at Henderson, after a week off, the Lethbridge Val Matteoti Bantam Golden Hawks met up with the Calgary Bronks. With Arik Weersink tending net, the final outcome was a 5-5 tie.
The 1st period saw both teams scoring 2 goals each. Andrew Thompson scored both goals for the Hawks assisted by Chase Williamson and Chase Bell on the 1st goal and Taner Miller on the 2nd.
The Hawks scored their final 3 goals in the 2nd period and held the Bronks scoreless with the 3rd goal scored by Ryan Stronski, assisted by Taner Miller and the 4th goal scored by Austyn Moser assisted by Andrew Thompson and Chase Bell. The 5th and final goal for the Hawks was unassisted, scored by Carson Beers.
The Hawks led at the end of the 2nd period 5-3, but the Bronks came back with 2 of their own goals in the 3rd to end the game in a 5-5 tie.
Next action for the Hawks is in Red Deer vs Red Deer Black on Nov. 26 and Red Deer White on Nov. 27th.
Hockey Hounds
Midget AA Hockey Hounds lead the South Division!
The Hockey Hounds now have a 7-4-3 record and lead the South division!
Two wins over the weekend brought the team 4 well earned points.
A win against NWCAA Bruins on Saturday with a 6-2 win. Jay Hollingsworth brought home the hat-trick while Justin Mitchell, Matt Rypien and Alex Barthel added singles.
On Sunday the Hounds doubled the Foothills Bisons 6-3 with Hollingsworth, Barthel, Mitchell scoring as well Justin Meier, Jaylen Twigg and Jonathon Zdan rounded up the scoring.
The Hounds are off next weekend and then head to tournament action in Olds on November 24th.
AAA Minor Midgets Chestermre Tournament
The AAA Minor Midget Hurricanes attended the Chestermere Tournament the weekend of November 18th to November 20th and were 1 and 3. Friday morning they lost to the high powered Red Deer Northstar Chiefs 8-1. The Hurricanes out played Red Deer in the first period but could not keep up the pace for the next two periods. Scoring for the Hurricanes was Matthew Nadeau. The goal tending was split between Logan Rowley and Brooklyn Paisley.
Friday evening the Hurricanes played a very entertaining game with Sherwood Park Squires and came away with a 6-5 win with Brook Paisley in goal. Scoring for Lethbridge was Matthew Nadeau with a pair and singles from Jared Broderson, Landon Groos, Brady Parenteau and Jace Jurgens.
Saturday Morning the Hurricanes lost 6-4 to Leduc Oil Kings. Brook Paisley took the loss in goal. Scoring for the Hurricanes was Devon Jerome with two goals and singles from Landon Gross and Jace Jurgens.
Sunday Morning the Hurricanes lost to PAC Saints 5-2. Scoring for the Hurricanes was Matthew Nadeau and Calvin Swanson. Logan Rowley took the loss in net.
Next action for the AAA Minor Midget Hurricanes will be November 26th and 27th in Calgary.
AAA Minor Midget Hurricanes
The AAA Minor Midget Hurricanes played two games this past weekend. They tied NWCAA Bruins 3-3 November 12th at Henderson Ice Arena. They outshot the Bruins 36 to 15. Scoring for the Hurricanes were Joel Lewis, Brady Parenteau and Danny Deginstein. Brooklyn Paisley was in goal for the tie.
The following day November 12th the Hurricanes dominated at Henderson but still lost to the Calgary BlacHawks 5-3. Calgary scored into an empty net with 20 seconds left. Shots on goal were 35 to 25 for Lethbridge. Scoring for Lethbridge Cody Lassiter, Landon Gross and Parker Wakaruk. Logan Rowley took the loss in net.
Next action for the Hurricanes will be this coming weekend November 18th to November 20th when they participate in the Chestermere Tournament. Next league action will be in Calgary November 26th and 27th.
Bantam AAA Val Matteoti Golden Hawks
Sat., Nov. 5th the Lethbridge Bantam AAA Val Matteoti Golden Hawks traveled to Red Deer to meet the Red Deer Black team. With neither team scoring in the 1st period, Red Deer got the 1st goal at 14:47 of the 2nd period. Then with only 0.09 left in the 2nd, Andrew Thompson tied it up assisted by Laramie Kostelansky. Red Deer again took the lead in the 3rd only to be tied by the Hawks with 2:58 left. The tieing goal was credited to Braeden Ruff and assisted by Kyler Newman and Chase Williamsen. Final score 2-2 wth Arik Weersink tending the net.
Sun., Nov. 6th at 10:45am the Hawks were grateful for the extra hour of sleep due to Daylight Savings Time, when they met up with the Spruce Grove PAC Saints. Ryan Stronski scored the only goal in the 1st period assisted by Laramie Kostelansky and Kyler Newman. Red Deer tied the game up in the 2nd period at 12:42. Than at 9:47, Caarson Beers put the Hawks ahead and at 5:21 Ryan Stronski added the final goal of the game. With no goals scored in the 3rd, the final score was 3-1 for the Hawks. Robert Brewin was in net for the Hawks.
The Lethbridge Val Matteoti Golden Hawks have this coming weekend off and will meet the Calgary Bronks Sat., Nov. 19th at Henderson.
Pronghorns News Nov 4/11
The Pronghorns AAA Midgets headed north this past weekend for two games. The game against the top team in the league, the St. Alberta Sport Raiders, ended in a 9-5 loss. Goals from the Pronghorns where from Connor Gross, a hat trick with three, and one each by Bryson Gore and Craig Lyon. Tyson Brouwer stood tall in net against a very fast and skilled northern team.
The second game against Edmonton’s Gregg Distributors ended in a 7-4 loss. Craig Lyon netted a pair of goals and one each from Jay Hitchcock and Jackson Purvis.
The team would like to congratulate Jonathon Hogue who played in the U16 Challenge Cup for Team Alberta. Team Alberta won the U16 Challenge cup this past weekend – Congratulations Jonny!
The Pronghorns are in Calgary this weekend to face the Buffalos and the Flames.
Golden Hawks
The Lethbridge Bantam AAA Val Matteotti Golden Hawks hosted the Camrose Vikings on Sat. Oct 29th. The Hawks were down 2-1 at the end of the 1st period. Kyler Newman scored the lone goal assisted by Carson Beers and Andrew Thompson. Neither team scored in the 2nd period and the Vikings scored 5 in the 3rd period to win 7-1. Arik Weersink was in net for the Hawks.
On Sun. Oct. 30th the Hawks again were hosts with the Grande Prarie Golden Arrow Storm coming to town. The Storm led 1-0 at the end of period 1 and added 3 more goals in period 2. However, the Hawks scored 4 in period 2 to tie the game. Then in period 3 the Hawks held the Storm scoreless and at 16:49, Chase Bell scored the winning goal assisted by Kyler Newman.
Credited with goal 1 was Carson Beers unassissted. The 2nd goal was scored by Chase Williamson assisted by Chase Bell. Gaol 3 went to Taner Miller wth the assist going to Andrew Thompson. The tieing goal in the 2nd perid went to Chase Bell assisted by Braeden Ruff. The win went to the Hawks 5-4 with Robert Brewin tending the net.
Next action for the Lethbridge Val Matteotti Golden Hawks is in Red Deer, Nov. 5-6th.
Bantam Golden Hawks
Sat.,Oct. 22nd the Lethbridge bantam AAA Val Matteotti Golden Hawks hosted the Calgary Northstars. The Northstars dominated the 1st period scoring 4 goals. The Hawks grabbed one with the cedit going to Devon Ruff assisted by Laramie Kostelansky and Taner Miller.
The Hawks matched the Northstars in periods 2 and 3 with one goal each period ending the game Northstars 6 and the Hawks 3. Goals were credited to Austyn Moser and Michael Grant with assists going to Carson Beers, Jason Wegner and Daylan Marchi, Chase Williamson. In net for the Hawks was Robert Brewin.
Sun., Oct. 23rd saw the Lethbridge Val Matteotti Golden Hawks travel to Calgary to take on the Calgary Bisons. It was a hard fought game with the Hawks scoring 3 goals in the first period, one goal behind the Bisons. Scoring the 1st two goals was Austyn Moser with assists for the !st goal going to Carson Beers and the 2nd goal Laramie Kostelansky. The 3rd goal of the period went to Ryan Stronski, assisted by Chase Bell and Laramie Kostelansky.
The 2nd period the Hawks added 3 goals to the Bisons 2 to tie the game up. Two of those goals went to Devon Ruff, assisted by Taner Miller and Austyn Moser, and Andrew Thompson. The 3rd goal was credited to Taner Miller assisted by Chase Bell.
In the 3rd period the Bisons took the lead with 8:18 only to be tied at 4:19 with Daylan Marchi claiming that Hawks goal assisted by Austyn Moser and Bryce DeBoer. With 2:51 left the Bisons ended up scoring the winning goal, ending the game Bisons 8-Hawks 7. In net for this hard fought game was Arik Weersink.
